September 19, 1930 — June 28, 2020

WILLIAM LEROY KANNENBERG was born to Orval LeRoy and Kathryn (Hamann) Kannenberg on September 19, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska. Shortly after his birth, he moved with his parents to Luverne, Minnesota where he was raised and received his education. Bill was confirmed in the faith on June 25, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. After his graduation from Luverne High School in 1948, he entered the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge on June 14, 1952 when he returned to Luverne. He worked with his father at Kannenberg Dray. On March 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Florence Haag at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh, Michigan. Following their marriage, they lived in Luverne and Bill continued to work with his father until his father retired in 1961. At that time, Bill became employed at Terrace Park Dairy in Luverne. When that company closed, he began working at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington, Minnesota. He continued to work there until his retirement.

On Sunday, June 28, 2020 while at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bill went to be with his Lord at the age of 89 years, nine months and nine days.

Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Throughout the years, he served as a church elder and usher and participated in the Stephen Ministry. He was also a member of the Dell Hogan American Legion Post 123 and VFW Post 2757, both in Luverne. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports of all kinds in his spare time.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Florence Kannenberg of Luverne; five children, William (Lisa) Kannenberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Vickie (Verlyn “Bub”) Hanson of Madison, South Dakota, Scott (Ruth) Kannenberg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mark (Margaret “Meg”) Kannenberg of Sioux Falls, and David (Kathy) Kannenberg of Kennet Square, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
